KERRANG! magazine was founded thirty-four years ago, and since then they have released magazines, a TV channel, radio station, award ceremony, and tour. They have expanded this empire as it has a mass audience, as well as a very loyal audience, who they reach in every way possible.

The magazine can be purchased in many different ways, this varies from hard copy to digital e-zine copies of the magazine. It can be over a 6 month period, full year subscription, or alternatively you can buy it monthly by purchasing in stores and magazine stands.

By being able to buy the magazine online on tablets and phones, it makes it easier for the target audience to access. As the target audience is young adults, tablets and mobiles are an every day accessory for most, having the convenience of being able to buy and read your favourite magazine on your phone or tablet, on the go, gives the magazine an advantage over others (USP).

Not only is KERRANG! a magazine and e-zine, it is also a radio station called 'KERRANG! Radio'. This is another way of reaching a mass audience. As not everyone has an interest of reading, or magazines, a radio station is a way of getting the information to the audience without having to buy the magazine or read. Not only does the radio station provide information that will also feature in the magazine, it will also feature music from the genre, and most likely bands who will feature in the magazine. This links the magazine to the station and will bring those who like the magazine over to listen to the radio station. Not only is it good for those who are not fond of reading, but busy people who travel also benefit from a radio station as it is easily accessible on the go, and in the car. With over 920,000 listeners a week the radio station is very popular.

Another platform for KERRANG! is their website Kerrang.com. This was the most successful digital launch in Bauer's history. The website attracts 8million views per month, as well as utilising social media with 745,000 Facebook fans, 583,000 Twitter followers, and 78,000 Instagram followers. These are all ways they attract their target audience and get attention for their other platforms. The use of cross media convergence works in their favour as it spreads the brand name worldwide.

KERRANG! TV is the second to last use of platforms Bauer uses to reach its target audience. KERRANG! TV is a market leading, award winning TV channel with originally filmed content and interviews, as well as some of the biggest videos and music. It attracts over 12,000 more viewers than MTV Rocks channel, and over 14% of all tv watchers tune into KERRANG!

To follow on the empire, KERRANG! has it's own award ceremony called the 'KERRANG! Awards' where it celebrates alternative/rock genre music, and much like the MTV awards has different categories for nominations. It happens yearly, and has perfomances from those who are nominated.
