Big series such as the Star Wars series, targets a very mainstream global audience. Fans from around the globe will travel anywhere to get to see the next film in the series, and as it is such a wanted film, it will be shown in most cinemas (even niche ones). The newest Star Wars film 'Rogue One' has been advertised through many different media platforms, such as TV, and Social Media (Facebook, Twitter and Youtube). This is so it can reach audiences of all ages, and all preferences of media consumption.
As well as this, the creators of Rogue One, have used synergy and have teamed up with comic creators Marvel, to create a comic book miniseries. This will reach an even wider audience, for those who love comic books and reading (especially collectors) and because of this it will soon make an appearance at the next Comic con. This way it will target everyone and anyone they can, so everybody will know the release, and will know the name 'Star Wars Rogue One'.

The film 'A Monster Calls' was released in Europe on October 7th 2016. It made 28.2 Million USD in the box office, and had a 48million USD budget. Although currently only released in Europe, it has made a staggering amount of money, and is expanding globally to the US, Canada and the UK. Currently the film adheres to a national audience, whereas from December 23rd 2016, will become accessible for a global audience.
As seen on the left, in the UK, only specific cinema screens are getting the opportunity to air this film. From the previous release, it is seen to be a film with high demand, yet the distributors are deciding to release it to select cinemas only. The places listed on the left are all cities, meaning if one wants to watch the film on release date they will have to travel to their closest city.
This film in particular caters to a mainstream audience, as it is being released in many places, as well as all over the globe.

Cinema's such as 'The Electric Picture House' in Wotton Under Edge targets a more niche audience. Where the cinema is situated those who live in the area are usually a high class, who have a large income. The cinema showcases films that would be appealing to the local audience, rather than a national or global audience. The film 'A United Kingdom; is a more intellectual film that is being shown in smaller, niche cinemas so get to audiences who will appreciate the true story behind it. As most people who will attend cinema's such as The Electric Picture House and The Little Theatre, will be going to the cinema to be further educated and to be challenged. Not intellectually, but physiologically. So films such as this, and other films they show, like Shakespeare plays are showcased a lot in smaller cinemas.
The Electric Picture House, uses cross media convergence and digital technologies to advertise what films they have on and when. I found a Facebook page and Facebook group which allows those who attend to be a part of, much like a confined cinema goer community. This keeps the audience as one, and allows them to vote on what films they want to see, and have easy access to see when films are being shown.
